South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting - May 21, 1993
6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.)
a. continued...
Commission of St. Joseph County showing
land use estimates for the Sample -Ewing
Development Area as a whole.
Ms. Auburn asked if there was any objection
to entering these additional documents into
the record. There was no objection and the
items were so entered.
Ms. Auburn opened the Public Hearing on
Resolution No. 1154 for anyone who wished
to be heard.
MR. BRADEMAS: I'm Tom Brademas. I
maintain my offices at 425 N. Michigan
Street in the City of South Bend. I have a
brief statement to share with the Commission
this morning. Having been involved in the
past in the acquisition and rehabilitation of
over twenty residential strictures in the
Southeast Neighborhood, (my comments are
directed at only the Southeast Neighborhood)
I believe I have a better than average
understanding of the area —its problems and
its potential. My comments are directed
primarily at the Sample -Ewing Development
Area. There have been statements made in
the general development plan, which I was
supplied a copy of, that I do not believe are
factual. Specifically in reference to Riley
High School, it is suggested that this facility
no longer meets the needs of their students,
faculty, administrators, or community. The
fact of the matter is that Riley High School's
performance, both academically and
athletically, is superior to many schools in the
-17-
PUBLIC HEARING ON RESOLUTION
NO. 1154
