But <br />no irm decision is made until the <br />Com,tission authorizes us to send the <br />off w and sets the amount of the offer. <br />The amount is based on two appraisals. <br />It is done in a public meeting. <br />'cally we don't have to give you <br />notice of that meeting. <br />Ms. Kolata stated that the appraisers <br />will determine the fair market value of <br />y home and we will base our purchase <br />offers on that fair market value. By law <br />tha is all we can do. <br />Mr. Bradford stated that if you proceed <br />witli your approving this lease and we <br />don "t have the right of remonstrance <br />because it has passed, we have lost that <br />Ms. Auburn stated that she thinks the <br />Con.ussion is trying to keep you informed <br />and work with you as much as it can. <br />Mr. Bradford stated that they can never <br />get back into the City of South Bend. <br />Soulh Bend will be losing good residents. <br />Ms. auburn stated that she wanted to <br />rei te, from the Commission's <br />perc.pective, that the whole Airport <br />Industrial Area is for future <br />devE lopment. That kind of project with <br />industrial and business development is <br />vexy important to us as a Redevelopment <br />Ccumission. From the long term planning <br />ive we see it as critical to the <br />continuing growth of the tax base and the <br />employment base for the civil city of <br />South Bend. Otherwise we will continue <br />to see that erode into the Mishawaka or <br />County tax base. Our intention is to <br />have that project go forward. We've not <br />speci looked at types of projects. <br />It c oes not hinge on any one component of <br />it, but, from a planning perspective, it <br />-23- <br />
