South Bend
Regular Meg
elopment commission
- October 26, 1990
6. NEW BUSMS (Cont.)
a. conitinuect...
yard and equipment storage, and a
building also was constructed on Block 3,
Parcel 17, for vehicle, equipment and
inventory storage. Substitute Resolution
No. 962 amends the Studebaker Corridor
Dev lopment Plan by adding these parcels
use by the Company for yard and
equipment storage, as well as vehicles
and inventory storage.
This letter is being written on behalf of
Ben V oLkowski and 2iolkowski
Construction Company as their written
objection to the adding of the above
numbered parcels to the Studebaker
Corridor Development Plan. The
objections are as follows.
l) Since the early 1980's, the Company
has purchased the parcels involved in the
Substitute Resolution, many parcels of
which were in a blighted condition, and
has spent considerable monies to upgrade
these parcels. The incorporation of
these parcels in the Development Plan
would have a severe economic impact on
the existing construction business.
2) The Company presently employs
approximately 250 people, with an
estimated weekly payroll of $125,000.
The incorporation of these parcels, which
are an integral part of the Company
operation, could result in a loss of
employment, and even have a direct impact
on the future of the Company's
construction operation.
3) The parcels of land sought to be
adde to the Development Plan are not
blig ted areas within the meaning of
36- 7.14 -1, et. seq.
I.C.
-7-
