NEW BUMMSS (Cont.) <br />a. conitznuea... <br />Gentlemen: <br />On behalf of Ben Ziolkowski and <br />Ziolkowski Construction Company, we <br />hereby file a written remonstrance to the <br />proposed amendment to the Studebaker <br />Corridor Development Plan, which proposed <br />ame dment will be heard at 10:00 a.m., <br />Fri ay, October 26, 1990. <br />Ziolkowski Construction Company is an <br />Indiana Corporation which was formed in <br />1974, and since the date of incorporation <br />has been continually engaged in the <br />construction business. Ziolkowski <br />Construction Company has undertaken <br />numerous contracts in the South Bend area <br />for construction purposes, and continues <br />do so. <br />During 1978, the Company purchased the <br />property at 1005 South Lafayette <br />Boulevard, South Bend, for the purpose of <br />constructing its Company buildings to <br />house its operations. This was <br />undertaken at considerable cost to the <br />Company, but was done to promote the use <br />of the land in a manner to best serve the <br />interests of the City of South Bend, as <br />well as the Company. Since that time, <br />the Company has continued to upgrade the <br />area, including its parking area. <br />Subsequently, the Company decided to <br />expand its operations and proceeded with <br />the purchase of several parcels during <br />1982 and 1983. At that time, these <br />parcels were in a blighted condition and, <br />agai ' at Company expense, the parcels <br />were upgraded and became an integral part <br />of t e overall Company operations. In <br />particular, these parcels were used for <br />
