She noted that the <br />environmental problems of the building <br />are not severe but need to be handled <br />ioroperlv- <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Combs, seconded by <br />Mr. Piasecki and unanimously approved, <br />the Commission approved hiring Cole <br />Associates for writing demolition <br />specifications for the Transwestern <br />buildincr. <br />Mr. Pocius noted that eleven proposals <br />were received for doing an environmental <br />assessment of the properties to be <br />acquired in the Studebaker Corridor. The <br />proposals were reviewed by Mike Meeks, <br />Deparbient of Engineering, Carolyn <br />Pfo enhauer, Ann Kolata and Mr. Pocius. <br />The proposals were narrowed to the three <br />best proposals: ATEC Environmental <br />($1,950), Wilkins and Wheaton ($6,300), <br />and Environmental Services and <br />Engineering ($8,930). Additional <br />information was requested from these <br />three. Based on the proposed scope of <br />services, references and cost estimates, <br />the staff recommends that the Commission <br />negotiate a contract with ATEC <br />Environmental for the purpose of <br />conducting a Phase One environmental <br />assessment of part of the Studebaker <br />Corridor. <br />Mrs. Kolata noted that a Phase One <br />environmental assessment is a review and <br />research of the history of ownership, <br />and environmental records of <br />the approximately 115 properties we would <br />like to acquire, followed by a walk <br />around the property looking for <br />indications of environmental problems. <br />The assessment would produce a report <br />-4- <br />COMMISSION APPROVED HIRING COLE <br />ASSOCIATES FOR WRITING DEMOLITION <br />SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE <br />TRANSWESTERN BUILDING <br />
