South Bend
Regular Meg
elopment Coin fission
- February 23, 1990
6. NEW BUS= S (Cont.)
h. continued...
here. The resolution before you does two
dif erent things: 1) expands the West
W on- Chapin Development Area, and
2) iEstablishes a list of properties to be
a ed by the Redevelopment Commission.
The expansion area runs from Laurel
Street to the east boundary line of
Parcel W88 -5 and down to Western Avenue.
This was done at the request of the West
W on- Chapin Revitalization Project,
Inc., to gain control of the vacant land
along the north part of the intersection
of Western Avenue and Chapin. That is a
very key area, one of the main entrances
into the neighborhood and the
nei hborhood organization felt that some
control should be maintained.
The acquisition properties are basically
along the 1200 and 1300 blocks of West
W on Street. More specifically,
between Elm Street to Studebaker, picking
up a the first two parcels of the 1400
block, west of Chestnut Street,
eveiything from the first property east
of Maple Street, all the way along West
Mrs Kolata: Dave, I'm not sure if you
mentioned specifically that the Plan
incorporates the plan that was developed
by Merkla, Pettigrew, Allen and Payne,
into the Development Plan, in its
ent ety. It is attached to the
resolution, but I want to make sure
ev one understood that.
Mrs. Kolata: I should mention who the
remonstrance letters are from. The first
is from Charles Green, proprietor of the
Red Carpet lounge. That letter is very
shoyt. I will read that:
