Mr. Nimtz CARL WORKS and members of the Con nission, thank you for rescheduling your regular meeting for tccorrow to facilitate tonight's presentation. The presentation tonight refers to an area specifically that is bordered by William Street on the east, Olive Street on the west, Western and the Co it railroad tracks to the south, and the Olive Orange Connector, or just north of the Olive Orange Connector, to the north. In our presentation of our Plan tonight, we will try to be concise and to thE point. But it will consist of, essentially, five parts. I am here to introduce, first, Ms. Charlotte Pfeifer, whc will present the first part and then I will be back at the end to summarize. But, as part of my introduction, I'd like to give you a little background on how our group came to be. Approximately two years ago a group of businessmen formed on West Washington to address some of the problems and concerns of the residents of the West Washington Street area. Arising out of that group and a desire by the City of South Bend to solidify the number of groups that were workuig in the area, we formed a group called the WWCRP, which actually is the West Washington - Chapin Revitalization 'ect, Incorporated. Approximately a y ago, the area that I've just re to was designated to be a velopment target area and we gave loose definition in terms of what was going to happen in this target area with the understanding that we would prepare a Comprehensive Development P1 . We solicited requests for proposals from a number of planners from outside the community and after much di ion, selected a company, known as rrkla, Pettigrew, Alan, Payne and Asscociates.
