NEW "INES5 (Cont.) <br />f. <br />Q <br />Upon a motion by Ms. Auburn, seconded by <br />Mr. Piasecki and unanimously carried, the <br />Ccirmission adopted Resolution No. 872 <br />petitioning the Portage Township Assessor <br />fo a reassessment of property in the <br />SoUth Bend Central Allocation Area. <br />Kolata explained that the Commission <br />L the property on both sides of this <br />:ion of Washington Street. We want to <br />Lest the vacation in order to further <br />office project being developed by <br />s/Washington Associates. Since the <br />Lission is still the owner of the <br />e ty it is appropriate that we file <br />the vacation. <br />A tly passed City Ordinance requires <br />tha a request to vacate any piece of <br />proDerty larger than 3,200 sq. ft. must <br />be pppaised and that a check in the <br />amo t of the appraised value be <br />'tted to the Board of Public Works at <br />the time the petition is submitted. Mrs. <br />Kol to noted we are in the process of <br />havLng the property appraised. She <br />tho.ight that Niles/Washington Associates <br />wouLd be willing to pay a portion of the <br />cos:. It is our intent that the vacation <br />not become final until Niles/Washington <br />Assyciates becomes the owner of the <br />Drobertv to the north of it. <br />Mr. Nintz asked if there was any way we <br />could vacate the property without paying <br />the appraised price.
