Continued... <br />ers of the West Washington Chapin <br />talization Project Inc. for their <br />and efforts to bring the project to <br />point. <br />Mrs Kolata noted that Resolution No. 824 <br />contains an additional paragraph, not <br />inc uded in previous confirming <br />resolutions. It reads, "The Conuni.ssion <br />hereby recognizes the need to solicit <br />frequently and accept for consideration <br />the views of residents, taxpayers, and <br />merchants of the near west side <br />neighborhood in the ongoing redevelopment <br />pro ess." <br />Mr. Gilbert pointed out that there was a <br />healthy dose of skepticism from the <br />neighborhood early in the process, but <br />there has been good cooperation from all <br />participants and they have muscled <br />thr uah that. <br />Mr. Nimtz asked if there was anyone else <br />who desired to be heard concerning this <br />Mr. Cronk indicated that he was a <br />property owner in the area. He thought <br />it had been an interesting process to get <br />to this point. He wished that the City <br />had been more sensitive than it had been, <br />but he hoped that would change with the <br />new administration. He objected to some <br />of the Findings of Fact, stating that <br />s buildings are vacant because owners <br />do riot want to rent them out to illegal <br />activities. <br />Mr. Nimtz thanked Mr. Cronk for his <br />ccnrients and responded that during the <br />N th administration there was $500,000 <br />available for that area, but there was no <br />interest by the neighborhood and <br />res stance from certain individuals. <br />-7- <br />
