OLD BUSZESS (Cont.) <br />a. contuinuea... <br />was determined that Valley Engineering's <br />pro sal of $23,700 would require the <br />Department of Engineering to provide <br />considerable additional engineering work <br />and the proposal from Ken Herceg and <br />Associates for $35,000 would not require <br />the additional support from the <br />Department of Engineering. Since the <br />Department of Engineering's schedule is <br />too tight to accomodate the additional <br />work, the recommendation of the staff is <br />that the Commission accept the Ken Herceg <br />and Associates proposal not to exceed <br />$35,000. <br />Ms. Matthews further explained that the <br />improvements to Niles Avenue will allow <br />traffic and parking patterns similar to <br />the recent improvements to Michigan <br />Street. The street will not be <br />conTletely replaced, only repaired, and <br />the sidewalks will not have the brick <br />inlay. The improvements will extend from <br />Jefferson Street to Cedar Street. <br />Ms. chwartz asked that a copy of Ms. <br />Mattaews report summarizing the two <br />pro sals be filed with the minutes of <br />the eting. <br />Upon a motion by Mr. Combs, seconded by COMMISSION AUTHORIZED A CONTRACT <br />Mr. Piasecki and unanimously carried, the WITH KEN HERCEG AND ASSOCIATES <br />Commission authorized a contract with Ken FOR DESIGN SERVICES IN THE SOUTH <br />Herceg and Associates for design services BEND CENTRAL DEVELOPMENT AREA <br />in the South Bend Central Development <br />Area in accordance with the terms of his <br />pro sal. <br />b. Commission approval requested for <br />Resolution No. 807 approving an <br />application for real property tax <br />deduction for Richard E. Lutin. <br />Mr. Hunt noted that the request for tax <br />deduction is for property located at 516 <br />S. Michigan Street. Mr. Lutin intends to <br />renovate the building, including roof <br />-4- <br />
