South Bend FiedevelopmentICcmission <br />Regular Mee ing - August 12, 1983 <br />7. NEW BUSINESS (Cont.) <br />b. Continued... <br />Mr. Hunt explained that the bid for 110 N. <br />Adans was recommended to be awarded to <br />Aardvark Construction Company who was the <br />second lowest bidder. The lowest bidder was <br />Jurtin Construction Company who is presently <br />at rkload capacity under Bureau of Housing <br />auidelines. <br />Mr. Hunt also explained that Ms. Ellis of 1413 <br />E. Cedar Street requested that the low bidder, <br />Charles Brown Maintenance, not be awarded the <br />bid due to previous dissatisfaction with the <br />contractor on a project. <br />Mr. Hunt asked that the loan for Bruce and <br />Janet Collier of 318 E. Haney Street be held <br />due to a new state law involving conflict of <br />interest as it relates to city employees. The <br />Legal Department will be looking into city <br />empl yee involvement with our rehab and <br />home teading loan programs. <br />Mr. Piasecki commented that he felt many <br />people were not aware of the Bureau of Housing <br />loan programs available. He asked if there <br />was any way to improve the publicity of our <br />Ms. Holston explained that the Bureau has <br />takea several actions to inform the public of <br />the Bureau's programs. She mentioned a South <br />Bend Tribune article, mailing of brochures to <br />neig rhood centers, and some targeted <br />mail'nas to individuals outside the NSA's. <br />Mr. iasecki suggested that an ad be placed in <br />the South Bend Tribune and that brochures <br />explaining the Bureau's programs be sent to <br />neig rhood centers. <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Piasecki, seconded <br />by Ms. Auburn and unanimously carried, the <br />loans for Mildred Williams in the amount of <br />$8,850, Freddie Mae Williams for $9,400, and <br />Mable A. Ellis for $5,450 be approved. The <br />loan for Bruce and Janet Collier at 318 E. <br />Hanei7 Street was held for the next regularly <br />scheJuled meeting. <br />LOANS IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,050 <br />FOR MILDRED WILLIAMS, $9,400 <br />FOR FREDDIE MAE WILLIAMS, AND <br />$5,450 FOR MABLE A. ELLIS WERE <br />APPROVED IN CONNECTION WITH <br />THE AFFORDABLE LOAN PROGRAM <br />
