South Bend edevelopment Commission
Regular Mee ing - March 26, 1982
4. COMMUNISATIONS (continued)
active on many local boards and commissions, including the
Neighborhood Housing Service, the Art Center, Hansel Cen-
ter, United Way Planning Division and the Michiana Urban
Observa oru.
I am recommending Mr. Hunt because of his educational,
professional and community background and experience.
I know that he will serve the Redevelopment Commission
as well as he has served me.
Upon a
motion made by
Pis. Auburn, seconded by Mr. Donald-
COMMISSION APPOINTED JON
son and
unanimously carried, the Commission accepted the
R. HUNT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
recommeiidation
of the
Mayor to appoint Jon R. Hunt the
OF THE SOUTH BEND DEPART-
Executilfe
Director of
the South Bend Department of Re-
MENT OF REDEVELOPMENT,
development
effective
May 1, 1982, replacing Patrick M.
EFFECTIVE MAY 1, 1982
McMahon
Mr. Hunt thanked the Commission for the confidence shown
by the appointment and kind words. I know that we have
a difficult and extremely ambitious development ahead of
us for the next several years. I feel confident and good
about the future because I will be working with an ex-
tremely experienced and dedicated group of Commissioners.
I also feel confident about the future because of the ex-
cellent work that Mr. McMahon has done on the projects,
includi g East Bank and Monroe- Sample, and in pursuing
efforts downtown. I think it would be remiss if I didn't
mention the fine staff that Mr. 11cMahon will be leaving
behind, and particularly I would like to recognize two
members of the staff, Ann Kolata and Kevin Horton. I
have complete confidence in both of these people and I
know the fine work they have done. So, I do look for-
ward to taking on the position and the work, and look
forward to working with you, Mr. Nimtz, and all the
other Members of the Commission.
Mr. Nimtz thanked Mr. Hunt for his comments.
a. Letter from Homer W. Fitterling relative to the pur-
chase offer made by the Department of Redevelopment
for real property in the Rum Village Industrial Park
5
