They hope to advocate for off-campus students and help build a
community amongst off-campus students. The first (1St) meeting was had and they are an
energeticgroup. There are a lot of ideas. They have an event coming up
on October 1St,
the Off-
Campus Resource and Engagement Fair. They are hoping to use that as an opportunity to catch
off-campus students and try to connect them with some local resources in the area, such as local
businesses. It is also an opportunity for students that are looking to become off-campus students,
to be connected to resources that are helpful.
SAINT MARY'S COLLEGE UPDATES/CONCERNS:
Terra Nelson is the President of the Student Body for Saint Mary's. She announced that her
Administration's hope is to focus on the community-aspects of Saint Mary's. She wants students
to feel excited to be at Saint Mary's as well as to invest in the communities that the College sets
up for the students. They also want to focus on retention and hopefully address issues of keeping
young women at the college, whether it is for financial reasons or if they feel there is a lack of
opportunity. Ms. Nelson's Administration is quite passionate about those goals. The transfer rate
after freshman year is eighteen percent(18%).
