OLD BUSINESS (continued) <br />a. continued... <br />Mr. McMahon explained to the Commission that Mr. <br />Janes Conley, from Historic Landmarks Foundation <br />of Indiana, and Ms. Dea Andrews, from Southold <br />He itage Foundation, Inc., were present today to <br />di cuss and summarize activities which will take <br />place under their respective agreements in the <br />Monroe-Sample Development Area. <br />Mrs. Kolata briefly reviewed the services to be <br />provided by Southold Heritage Foundation. They <br />wi 1 establish a site office in the Monroe - Sample <br />area to counsel residents and prospective buyers <br />in financial packaging, provide technical assist- <br />ance for rehabilitation of existing structures, <br />and coordinate house moving from the redevelopment <br />acquisition area, including marketing houses to be <br />moved, overseeing the contract and move itself, <br />and providing technical assistance to insure con- <br />struction is compatible in style, size and materials. <br />They will also administer a Revolving Construction <br />Loan Fund for residents of the area, consult with <br />other non - profit preservation organizations, such <br />as Historic Landmarks Foundation, and market the <br />re idential portion of the Monroe - Sample Develop <br />me t Area. <br />The Southold.Heritage Foundation Board approved the <br />One-year contract last week. The contract amount <br />is $25,000, and is renewable on a yearly basis. At <br />the June 26, 1981 meeting the Commission gave its <br />approval to ratify this contract by telephone. <br />Commissioner Donaldson gave his approval by phone <br />this morning, and if Commissioners Robinson and Cira <br />approve it, the contract will be approved at this <br />time. <br />Mr. James D. Conley, Director of Historic Landmarks <br />Foundation of Northern Indiana, a non- profit, state- <br />wide organization, gave a brief history of his <br />organization and of what his group hopes to accom- <br />pl sh in the Monroe - Sample area. Mr. Conley explained <br />their headquarters are in Indianapolis, established <br />20 years ago through the generosity of Eli Lilly for <br />promoting residential restoration of historic archi- <br />tecture. The group works largely through non - profit <br />or anizations, such as Southold Heritage Foundation. <br />D <br />
