South Bend Commission <br />Rescheduled �edevelopment <br />Regular Meeting - June 12, 1981 <br />5. PUBLIC HEARING (continued) <br />Mrs. Hernandez agreed with Mr. McMahon's statement but <br />still feared that some people were still in danger of <br />having their property taken and they would not have in- <br />centive to put more money into the house. This would <br />be defeating part of the purpose of preservi.ng that <br />area as residential. <br />Ms. Jea ne Derbeck inquired whether the properties being <br />acquire today were mostly residential and whether they <br />are bei g acquired for purposes of demolishing them. <br />Mr. McMahon replied that 95 percent of the lots are <br />either residential or vacant property plus the Franklin <br />School playground area. We will be clearing the properties <br />to make the land available for commercial or.industrial <br />use in those areas and this will mean that the houses will <br />either be moved to other areas or demolished. <br />Mr. Nim z inquired whether there were any further comments, <br />recomme dations, suggestions or any remonstrances to be <br />present d to the Commission concerning this project. Hear- <br />ing non , the public hearing was declared closed. <br />6. OLD BUSINESS <br />There w s no old business to present to ,the Commission. <br />7. NEW BUSINESS <br />a. Commission approval requested for Resolution No. 641, <br />confirming Resolution No. 636 with respect to the. <br />Monroe-Sample Development Area. <br />Mr. Nimtz explained that Resolution No. 641 confirms <br />Res lution No. 636 which was adopted some time ago, <br />beginning the procedures which concluded with today's <br />public hearing. <br />On notion made by Ms. Auburn, seconded by Mr. Donald- <br />son and unanimously carried, Resolution No. 641 <br />confirming Resolution No. 636 with respect to the <br />Monroe Sample Development area was approved. <br />8 <br />NO OLD BUSINESS PRESENTED <br />TO THE COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION NO. 641, CON- <br />FIRMING RESOLUTION NO. <br />636 RELATING TO MONROE- <br />SA. �PLE DEVELOPIMENT AREA <br />WAS APPROVED. <br />
