South Bend redevelopment Commission
Rescheduled Regular Meeting —June 12, 1981
7. NEW BUSINESS (continued)
g. continued...
eff ct until we have successfully completed the re-
loc tion process of the individual owner.
On otion made by Mr. Donaldson, seconded by Ms.
Aub rn and unanimously carried, leases in the
Mon oe- Sample Development were approved.
h. Com ission approval requested for amendment to Monroe -
Sam le Relocation Policy Statement.
Mr. I -,icMahon explained that according to HUD guidelines
we can relocate anyone into a substandard dwelling.
In he past we were not able to consider such proper-
ties. We are asking the Commission to give us per-
mission to include funds for code improvements as
part of the relocation benefits, still remaining
within our $15,000 guideline, allowing us to address
a situation where an individual selects property
requiring code improvements. This would open up
a number of opportunitites to the homeowner as far
as his selection, and provides the homeowner with an
opportunity to address code changes without causing
a f nancial burden on them.
Ms. Auburn stated that it is important to give as
many options to people that we are relocating as
possible. Some of the housing stock in our community
is still very solid but because it was built a few
years ago may not meet code. Allowing use of the
fun s to go in to bring the house up to code really
doe expand options to these people.
Mr.jNimtz said he felt this was a great step forward.
On otion made by Mr. Donaldson, seconded by Ms.
Aub rn and unanimously carried, the amendment to
the Monroe- Sample Relocation Policy Statement was
ado ted.
i. Commission approval requested for the folloiwng
Sec ion 31 oan Program proposal in accordance
with recommendation of t e Bureau of Housing.
COMMISSION APPROVED AMEND-
MENT TO MONROE- SAMPLE
RELOCATION POLICY STATEMENT
