South Bend edevelopment Commission
Regular Mee ing - June 20, 1980
DISCUSSIONS
Mr. Nimtz continues....
I was in Elkhart on a legal matter so I was not
here. I would like to thank the other members
of the Commission for their support in this
matter. I have written Judge Rakestraw and
thanked him for his support and the time he
has given and I would like to congratulate
and add my well wishes to Mr. Butler. Other
members of the Commission thought this issue
was settled by the November 16, 1979 meeting,
and I believe Judge Rakestraw, in his letter
said that at that time it should have settled
the matter. I am pleased to see that he
concurred with the action of the Commission
at that time. Again, I want to thank the
members of the Commission for their support
of me a d the way this matter was handled,
and I t ink that concludes the matter.
Mr. Butler: I would like to say one
thi g also. I didn't realize that you
were going to make those comments. It
probably would have been more appropriate
for me first to say thanks to all of
you for your support. I am sorry
tha Ms. Auburn and Mr. Cira are not
here to say thank you. I did want to
state for the public record that I
appreciate very much the support you
havo all given me..
Mr. Nim z: Thank you. Any further questions
from th press or public?
Ms. Der beck: A few meetings ago you hired
a firm by the name of Baird & Warner who
were supposed to provide some advice on
the Century Mall project, etc., and at
that ti be you stated that we could expect
some kXks.
of answers back from them within
a few
Mrs. Ko ata: Ms. Derbeck, we can expect
answers from them in, I believe, six to
eight weeks. However, we are still working
on finalizing the contract for Baird &
Warner. There is no major problem, it
is just that everyone has been extremely
busy; b t it is just about completed at this
point. They have done some preliminary
-15-
