South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Me ting - April 11, 1980
7. PROGRE$S REPORTS (continued)
Mr. Nimtz: Mr. Anderson, one of the
problems I foresaw in this matter is that
if you honor one agreement someone else
woiLld want to rent another, and if HUD
woiLld allow this, we would have to - have
-
a 4rawing out of the hat or something as
to who gets what location. Wouldn't you
a.Q ee Mrs. Allen?
. Allen: That is correct and I also feel
t you should rent these properties to
one else who is interested in renting
it January because of the Christmas
idays.
Mr. Anderson: That would have been my
second question as to whether or not
this would clash with the intent to
rent to retailers.
Ptf Nimtz: Yes, it would.
Mr. Nimtz: I would like to report to the
Co fission that we had some sand blasting
done to the building and the technical
tein is ...it removed the epidermas of
the brick. It makes it porous and I believe
it will be a recommendation that sand
blasting not be used to fix the brick
wa 1 on the Odd Fellows Building, and I
believe Borger /Jones & Associates will
use an acid to clean it and that has not
ben tested yet.
Ms. Derbeck: I have a question about the
Odd Fellows Building. What has happened
with the developer from California
(M,. Kalman), I understood he was in a
hurry for an answer?
Mr. Ellison: He is. What would you like
to know about him?
Ms Derbeck: Well, you don't even mention
hio today. It seems to me that you are
st lling.
-27-
DISCUSSIONS ON THE
ODD FELLOWS BUILDING
