NEW BUSINESS <br />d. continued... <br />Mr. Donaldson: In other words, some of these figures, <br />I/ <br />e this $20, is all that it takes on this particular <br />pr perty. <br />Mrs. Baumgartner: Yes, that is all it takes on that <br />pa ticular house. <br />Mr, Cira: How did you determine who was going to do <br />this. Were these contractors one and the same? <br />Mrs. Baumgartner::, On each letter you will find a <br />number of contractors. What we asked them to do was <br />submit competitive proposals and since these were <br />not formally bid we were not obligated to formally <br />bid these. In all cases, the lowest bidder has <br />bee selected, unless, of course, someone has sub- <br />mit ed an incomplete (bid) proposal. <br />Mr. Cira: Have you done anything in your Department <br />so this won't happen again? <br />Mrs, Baumgartner: Certainly. <br />Mr. McMahon: The record should probably note that <br />there are thirty -three (33) different contracts <br />listed. Do you have a total sum? <br />Mrs. Baumgartner: No. <br />Mr. McMahon: These contracts are in varying amounts <br />fro $20 to, I believe, $3,000. <br />Mr. Nimtz: This has to go back again to the quality <br />of the inspectors. <br />Mr. Cira: That's the whole thing, that's what we <br />havo been fighting for a whole year. <br />Mrs Baumgartner: Just as a note, in terms of the <br />312 Loan Program, which you all had an enormous <br />jurisdiction over. We inspected 55 properties and <br />of those 55 only 13 had remaining code violations, <br />as )pposed to the Grant Program which of the 92 <br />that we inspected all had code violations.
