206 <br />December 3. 1901. <br />Common Council report concerning transfers by the Indiana Ry. Co. taken up. The <br />Board are of the opinion that it is within the duties of the City Attorney to enforce the <br />terms of that cormpanys franchise L City Attorney requested to act on the matter. <br />Board took up the mo$ion of Councilman Koczorowski concerning the grade of the <br />street in front of the Shepherd Davis Coalyard. This matter is the sWbject of negotiation <br />with the L.S.&M. S.R.R. Co. <br />Matter of paving Vistula Avenue. Board held a consultation with property owners <br />to ascertain ghat sort of an improvement was desired. No conclusion was arrived at. The <br />board suggest to property owners that it would be desirable to have them dedicate the river <br />front to the City to protect themselves against building on this property. The City can <br />then arra, nm for double tracks without narrowing the roadway over 5 feet. Engineer ins -- <br />trusted to prepare a sketch of the proposition of the Board to enable property owners to <br />understand the same: <br />Bids opened for construction of now central fire station. Indiana Lumber &cMfgio <br />Co. were beat bidders f )r pressed brick; $14639. Hilton Hammond was best bidder for <br />common red brick,$13677. The Board reserved its decision pending consultation with Mr. <br />Birdsall. <br />Contract signed with the Indiana,Illinois and Iowa Railroad Co. authorizing the <br />previous construction of their road in the city limits and the extexsiox of the same ac r <br />across the southern part of the City to the eastern limits of the City. <br />4 <br />k 12� Z--� <br />President, <br />
