October 29. 1901. <br />Assessment rolls and.:final estimates filed for the brick pavement improvement <br />of. Mill .street, under Improvement Resolution No.. 17, and the pipe sewer on east Colfax <br />Avenue, under Improvement Resolution No. 38. Resolved that notices as.to the amount of <br />assessments be published in the South Bend Daily Tribune and in the South Bead Daily Times <br />for six successive days beginning on the first day of November, 1901, stating that this <br />Board will give a hearing as to the amount of assessments on the 12th day of November, <br />1901, at 7:15 P. M. Resolved further that the entire work under the above estimates be ac <br />accepted and approved and the final estimates therefor allowed. Notice of this resolution <br />shall be published in the South Bend Daily Tribune and in the South Bend Daily Times on <br />the first day of November, stating that this Board will give a hearing upon the above est- <br />imates on the i2th day of Movembe r, 1901 at 7 :15 P(ti.; M. <br />South Bend Electric Co. notified to put an all night lamp at the intersection <br />of the alleys in the block bounded by Washington, Michigan, Jefferson and Main Streets. <br />Petition for improvement of E street filed for 1902. <br />Clerk instructed to give Cassuis Caldwell deed for Lot No.29-Block 4 Range 1 <br />West in City Cemetery. <br />Board decide d,upon publication of the new annexation ordinance, to begin pro- <br />ceedings for the widening of Olive street from L.. S.& M. S. R. R. Co. property to Mich- <br />igan Avenue. <br />Hearing on the question of authorizing the Indi=ay Illinois and Iowa Ry Co. to <br />extend its line eastward through the southern part of the City. The railway company did <br />not appear. About twenty-five interested property owners appeared before the Board and <br />,remonstrated against the occupation of any streets and alleys for the proposed extension. <br />The property owners were represented by attorney W. G. Crabill. The Board listened to the <br />arguments of Mr. Crabill. The Board had previously looked over the site of the proposed <br />extension and had seen about what property would be affected, and what streets and alleys <br />occupied. The Board decided that it would not authorize or empower any railway company to <br />construct a line upon the route outlined by this Company. <br />
