DRUGIESTING <br />BCRC will provide an identification card to each participant <br />which will reflect the results of the Drug &Alcohol Screen'I"est <br />from the laboratory and/or as verified by the Medical Review <br />Officer (MRO). To, implement an appropriate and acceptable <br />program, BCRC has adopted six (6) safeguards that reflect the <br />standards established by the Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry <br />Association (DATIA), U.S. Department of Health and Human <br />Services (HHS) Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services <br />Administration (SAA41-ISA) for testing mandated by the U.S. <br />Department offransportation. Those safeguards are as follows: <br />1. 'llie, integrity of collected urineq)ecin'lens will be <br />ensured by, utilization of one collection procedure at all <br />sites. Samples will be collected in accordance with, <br />federal. standards that provide for a continuous Custody <br />and Control Form and which recognize privacy concerns <br />regarding the individuals being tested. <br />2. Testing will be conducted only by accredited labs that <br />have obtained and retain 1JF1S/SAMHSA certification. <br />3. All specimens that are positive in an initial, screen must <br />then be confirmed by gas chromatography/mass <br />spectrometry (GC/MS). <br />4. A Medical Review Officer (MRO) will review all <br />non -negative (positive) drug tests in order to verify <br />positive test results. The MRO is a physician with <br />specialty training and expertise in substance abuse and <br />drug testing. Mie MRO willreview lab -confirmed <br />positive test results to ensure proper procedure, protocol, <br />and reporting. The MRO will make two (2) <br />documented attempts, within twenty-four (24) hours <br />of receiving the confirmed positive test result, to <br />interview the individual who has as confirmed positive <br />20 <br />
