REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 28, 2020 14 <br />AWARD BIDS — VENUES PARKS AND ARTS 2020 CHEMICAL SUPPLY VARIOUS <br />VPA MAINTENANCE FUNDS) <br />Mr. Patrick Sherman, Venues, Parks, and Arts advised the Board that on January 14, 2020, bids <br />were received and opened for the above referenced chemicals. After reviewing those bids, Mr. <br />Sherman recommended that the Board award the contracts to the following lowest responsive <br />and responsible bidders for each chemical in unit prices as submitted: <br />a) Harrell's, LLC <br />b) Site One Landscape Supply <br />c) Advanced Turf Solutions, Inc. <br />d) Target Specialty Products <br />e) Mark Farm Supply, Inc. <br />fj Cleveland C. Cleary <br />Therefore, Ms. Maradik made a motion that the recommendation be accepted, and the bids be <br />awarded as outlined above. Ms. Dorau seconded the motion, which carried. <br />APPROVE BID AWARD EXTENSION — TWO (2) MORE OR LESS 2019 OR NEWER <br />TANDEM AXLE STAINLESS STEEL MULTI -USE DUMP TRUCKS - SPEC V STREET <br />DEPARTMENT CAPITAL LEASE) <br />Mr. Jeff Hudak, Central Services, advised the Board that on October 22, 2019, bids were <br />received and opened for the above referenced trucks. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Hudak <br />recommended that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder <br />Truck Centers, Inc., 1011 W. Sample St., South Bend, IN 46619. Mr. Hudak is now requesting to <br />extend the bid award of December 10, 2019, for two (2) additional dump trucks in the amount of <br />$472,218 for the Base Bid plus all Alternates. He noted the wording in the specs included <br />agreement to extend bid prices if requested. Therefore, Ms. Maradik made a motion that the <br />recommendation be accepted, and the bid award be extended. Ms. Dorau seconded the motion, <br />which carried. <br />AWARD BID AND APPROVE CONTRACT — RIVERWALK FROM BEYER STREET TO <br />HOWARD PARK — PROJECT NO 117-083A (PARK BOND D INSURANCE FUND REDA <br />1 UF <br />Mr. Scott Kreeger, Engineering, advised the Board that on December 10, 2019, bids were <br />received and opened for the above referenced project. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Kreeger <br />recommended that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder <br />Walsh & Kelly, Inc., 24358 State Road 23, South Bend, IN 46614, in the amount of $3,199,000, <br />subject to funding. Therefore, Ms. Maradik made a motion that the recommendation be accepted, <br />and the bid be awarded, and the contract approved as outlined above. Ms. Dorau seconded the <br />motion, which carried. <br />APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO REJECT BIDS — SALE OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY 901 <br />E. MINER ST. <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Andrew Netter, Community Investment, requested <br />permission to reject all bids for the above referenced property noting the Northeast <br />Neighborhood area is in the planning process and this property needs to be held onto until <br />completed. Therefore, upon a motion made by Ms. Maradik, seconded by Ms. Dorau and carried, <br />the above request was approved. <br />AWARD QUOTATION AND APPROVE CONTRACT MAIN STREET CULVERT INLET <br />— PROJECT NO. 120-016 (SEWER CONTRACTUAL) <br />Mr. Scott Kreeger, Engineering, advised the Board that on January 14, 2020, quotations were <br />received and opened for the above referenced project. After reviewing those quotations, Mr. <br />Kreeger recommended that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and <br />responsible bidder, Selge Construction Co., Inc., 2833 S. I Ph. St, Niles, MI 49120, in the amount <br />of $12,500. Therefore, Ms. Maradik made a motion that the recommendation be accepted, and <br />the quotation be awarded, and the contract approved as outlined above.
