Cira and carried. The Housing Bureau requested that the
high or Slatile bid be accepted even though it is not the low bidder.
The bid was $340.00 higher than the low bid. Mr. Schaller indicated
that the reason for the awarding of the contract to Slatile was that
the ow bidder, Brittain Construction was awarded a contract with
the North Bureau for general rehabilitation for nine structures with
the completion date of 10 October. As of this date the construction
work has not been completed on any of those structures involved. In
view of this the Advisory Board recommended the bid be awarded to
Slatile. The total bids submitted by the general, electrical,
plumbing and heating were still lower than the estimated costs. Mr.
Wiggins asked about the long time experience with Slatile in getting
bid work done and Mr. Schaller indicated that work has been done with
them for several years and they have been pretty much on time. Mr.
Nimtz asked Mr. Butler to clarify the authority to take a higher bid
over a lower one, and Mr. Butler indicated that it can be done and
the factor mentioned is certainly one that can be considered. Mr.
Robinson indicated that he hadn't any objections to the reasoning
and Mr. Wiggins moved for approval seconded by Mr. Cira and carried.
A correction in the amount for the electrical bid, the bid should read
$7,780.00 and not $7,789.00 as indicated by Mr. Schaller. The bid
by Electric Construction was the low bid and was lower than the total
labor and material estimate. Mr. Robinson moved for approval supported
by Cira and carried.
The plumbing bid was low bid by R.A. Stickler, Mr. Wiggins moved
approval, seconded by Mr. Cira and carried.
The heating bid by Builders Whitt Incorporated was the low bid, Mr.
Wiggins moved approval seconded by Mr. Robinson and carried.
b) C mmission approval is requested for Change Order #1 for 630 East
Hane Avenue.
