7.(f) NEW BUSINESS, Continued: <br />Mo ion was made by Mr. Wiggins for authorization of this contract <br />wi h Borge & Pitt at a contract price not to exceed $10,000, with <br />se and by Mr. Cira. <br />Mr � Evans then asked if this contract would include preparation of <br />th legislation and Mr. Brownell indicated that it would. <br />Motion was put to the vote and carried. <br />g. <br />for <br />C. Wayne Brownell read Item (g) of the agenda concerning request <br />authorization to enter into contract with James E. Childs and <br />JAMES E. <br />CHILDS AND <br />Associates <br />Inc. for the preparation of a study of future land use <br />the Central Downtown Project Indiana R -66, study to include rendered <br />ASSOCIATES <br />INC. <br />in <br />site <br />plans, land use plans and rendered perspectives depicting pro- <br />CONTRACT <br />posed <br />improvements. This contract provides for a compensation schedule <br />APPROVED <br />at <br />the rate of $25 per hour for principal architect, $20 per hour for <br />IND R -66 <br />non-principal <br />registered architect, and $16 per hour for draftsman, <br />with <br />a maximum compensation to be paid under the terms of the con- <br />tract <br />of $7,500. The contract period is to begin in December, 1976 <br />an <br />be completed in 75 consecutive calendar days from the date of the <br />co <br />tract. <br />Mr. Brownell stated that again, Mr. Childs and staff are working and <br />"I am bringing you a formal contract at this time and asking you to <br />av rove it ". <br />Chair: As soon as the Sears announcement was made, the Mayor's Committee <br />on Downtown Development contacted the Chair and other members of the <br />Commission and we formally told them that we concurred with them that <br />some alternate plan had to be provided fora This is now coming to <br />fruition, we have worked out a formal contract with the architect who <br />is already working, and has been for several weeks on this - this <br />formalizes the contract with him. <br />Motion was made by Mr. Wiggins to authorize this contract with James E. <br />Childs & Associates, Inc. for preparation of a study of future land <br />use in the Central Downtown area, Indiana R -66, with maximum compensa- <br />tion under the contract of $7,500. Motion was seconded by Mr. Cira. <br />Mr. Evans: I think you answered my question, this is coordinated with <br />the City? I mean our total effort here as far as city administration <br />an redevelopment... <br />Chair: Mr. Brownell has been in contact with Dr. Wing Dractically every <br />day and the Mayor various times during the week. I have been in <br />contact with the Mayor about twice a week and Dr. Wing the same and <br />other members of the Commission have been consulted on this. <br />si <br />ha <br />wi <br />Johnethen White. What are they (the Childs firm) being asked to do? <br />Brownell: Do you mean the architect? He is being asked to develop <br />e plans for the proposed development of the downtown area.
