7(e) NEW BUSINESS, continued:
Gee Evans: Will you refresh our minds about the purpose of the
co tract?
Mr. Brownell: It was for a parking study on how we might handle park-
in in the downtown area and also it had to do with the possible
relocation of the bus terminal and the Sears move.
Gene Evans: Has it been published?
Mr. Brownell: No.It has not been published and the reason is that
we had hoped we could work out an additional study to be added to
thE contract, rather than waste this one, and put it in as a supple -
me t attached for publication.
Mr.
Mr.
we
Mr,
Evans: What is the timing on that, do you know?
Brownell: We don't know just yet, we have to get the alternate plans
are talking about.
Evans: What will the additional study cover?
Mr Brownell: It will cover parking, as well as the alternate plan
fo downtown.
Ch ir: They really can't do much on the parking study until we make
so a plans -- until we get something concrete. There is one on the
dr fting boards...
Mr Evans: It's still in verylight pencil, isn't it?
ir: No, I wouldn't say that.
Mr. Evans: What I am concerned about is you have a study here that
wa3 completed in June and we don't have the benefit of being able
to study and see it and you aren't really certain of the timing on
tha additional studies you are going to do.
Mr. Brownell: The difficulty is that we want to use the study without
go ng through the expense of doing it all over again.
Mr Wiggins: Part of this.study related to the proposed Superblock -
an it no longer fits.
Ch ir: But the basic data, the population of the area and the number
of people coming into town, etc., all of this is still valid.
it
re
tr
Wiggins: The part that relates to the Civic Center is valid..when
get some plans formulated, which should not be too far down the
ad, we would like to modify using the data that they have, to apply
against what they have then and make it all a part of this thing,
ther than go back and make :another contract and churn the whole thing
rough again for a lot more money. It's actually an attempt to save money.
- 11 -
