BID OIPENING (Cont'd <br />Mr. Brownell advised the next part of their bid is Exhibit 4, <br />Redeveloper's Affidavit of Non - Collusion, signed by Robert E. <br />Soderberg; Exhibit 5, Redeveloper's Statement for Public Dis- <br />closure; and we have another envelope that is marked, "Confi- <br />dential" which contains Exhibit 6. <br />Mr. Brownell said Mr. Soderberg gave him their site plan earlier, <br />aid he displayed the plan and explained the building plans. They <br />have an option to purchase the Katz Building which they will tear <br />d )wn that is located on the corner of Main and West Colfax. Peoples <br />First Federal Savings and Loan Association propose to buy this land <br />f om us and purchase the mentioned building and land from Dr. Katz. <br />The Chair called on Mr. Soderberg for any further comments he may <br />w.sh to add. <br />Mr. Soderberg stated Mr. Brownell covered basically what they hope <br />t do. "The most significant thing is the razing of the Katz build - <br />i g. It has a significant detrimental effect on our business and <br />oi our building, and so the context of this, we hope, is to clean <br />tie whole corner up. It would be a significant improvement for our <br />b siness and we hope for our downtown." <br />Tie Chair asked if the Commissioners have any questions of Mr. <br />S derberg. There being none, the Chair stated he believes the <br />proper motion to be made is that this bid be received and referred <br />t Legal Counsel. Mr. Kevin J. Butler, Commission Legal Counsel, <br />c ncurred. <br />01 motion by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Robinson and unanimously <br />c rried, the bid from Peoples First Federal Savings and Loan Associ- <br />at,ion of St. Joseph County is to be received and referred to <br />L gal Counsel. <br />Disposition Parcel No. 2 -6B: <br />L gal <br />Notice appeared <br />in The South Bend Tribune and Tri- County <br />DISPOSITION <br />N ws <br />on September 24, <br />1976, and affidavits showing Proof of Publica- <br />PARCEL NO. <br />t on <br />were available. <br />Advertisement was for Parcels 2 -6A and 2 -6B. <br />2 -6B, R -66 <br />The Chair then asked Mr. Brownell if he has received any bids on <br />Disposition Parcel No. 2 -6B, and Mr. Brownell stated he had none <br />for Disposition Parcel No. 2 =6B. <br />The Chair then stated, no bids having been received for this parcel, <br />t e Commission can now proceed to negotiate with any potential <br />b yer for 90 days at a price not less than the minimum bid price; <br />t en after that we can negotiate for any length of time. <br />Derbeck asked if we had any potential buyers, and Mr. Brownell <br />ised that we do and we have discussed this matter with Mr. Sonne- <br />n who is interested in the property. <br />- 15 - <br />
