4. CORRESPONDENCE (Cont'd <br />onstitutes the Mayor's authority to use funds in the amount of <br />200,000.00, that was granted under Title I of the Housing and <br />ommunity Development Act of 1974, for the continuation of Ind. <br />-57 and Ind. R -66. <br />Mr. C. Wayne Brownell, Executive Director, Department of Redevelop - <br />ent, further explained the letter simply means this is the release <br />of the $200,000.00 from the first year of Community Development <br />funds, and under the change in the regulations, we needed a release <br />of the funds on their environmental regulations. <br />b. HUD Area Office letter dated August 24, 1976: This letter is from HUD CONCURS, <br />r. Stephen J. Havens, Director, Community Planning and Development DEMOLITION <br />Division, advising HUD concurrence in the award of Demolition and CONTRACT 36 <br />Site Clearance Contract No. 36, to Warner and Sons, Inc., in the AWARDED TO: <br />amount of $1,994.00, Project Indiana R -66. Also, since the contract WARNER AND <br />amount is less than $2,000.00, the provisions of the Davis -Bacon SONS, INC., <br />Act, with regard to Federal Wage Decisions, do not apply. R -66 <br />W are to contact our Equal Opportunity Division with regard to <br />tie Preconstruction Conference, and to advise as to the proposed <br />dates for the start and completion of construction. <br />Mr. Brownell advised the Preconstruction Conference was held yester- <br />day, and we will issue a Notice to Proceed to the contractor for <br />tie demolition of the old gasoline station, at 330 Lincolnway East, <br />Parcel 14 -5. This is on our Block 6 area which needs to be cleared. <br />c. S . Joseph River Bend Development Corporation letter dated August 27, DEED <br />1976: Mr. Brownell read this letter in its entirety, from Mr. Lloyd AUTHORIZED <br />S Taylor, Vice - President, St. Joseph Bank & Trust Company, which TO CONVEY <br />advises that the St. Joseph River Bend Development Corporation will LAND, ST. <br />be taking down a portion of Parcel 6 -1B, effective immediately. Mr. JOSEPH <br />Charles Boynton, firm's legal counsel, has given us the legal descrip- RIVER BEND <br />t ons of this parcel and has ordered the title policy. A portion of DEVELOPMENT <br />this parcel will be taken down in advance of the required date to ac- CORP., R -66 <br />c mmodate the construction of the proposed Whitcomb & Keller office <br />b ilding. <br />Commission approval is requested for the intended action as noted. <br />M . Brownell has been working with our legal counsel on this and Mr. <br />B tier advised he has prepared the deed in anticipating the Commis - <br />s on's approval. Mr. Boynton was out of town so he did not have a <br />c ance to meet with him. However, the attorney is back and Mr. Butler <br />s id he did talk to him on the phone and will be meeting with him to <br />g t his approval. <br />M . Brownell displayed a blueprint showing the layout of the land, <br />a d the 83,305 square feet they want to buy out of that parcel, <br />0 1.912 acres. <br />- 3 - <br />
