6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont'd
Change Order No. 1 to Phase II -E Contract, Indiana Project R -66: CHANGE
Commission approval was requested for -this change order, on ORDER
Phase II -E Contract with Harry H. Verkler Contractor, Inc., NO. 1 TO
on Wheelchair Ramps, for an increase in contract amount of PHASE II =E
$228.76, per memorandum from Project Engineer, dated January CONTRACT
13, 1976, subject to HUD concurrence. APPROVED,
R -66
The change order was for repairing a crack hidden from view
prior to starting the work. The contract budget was $18,300.00.
The contract was $14,501.29 and the.chapge will add $228.76 to
the contract. This is a 1.5% increase and the contract is final
and complete.
The Project Engineer is Mr. Bill Slabaugh and his memorandum
is to the Redevelopment Commission for approval.
The Chair welcomed Mr. Slabaugh to the meeting and asked if
he had anything further to add to the memorandum. Mr. Slabaugh
advised that prior to demolition of the vault under the side-
walk, at the old American Bank by the clock, at the northwest
corner of Washington and Michigan, they had built a wall to
isolate the backfill area from the utility area which was to
remain at this building, and that an opening was found under
the plaster coat. This opening would allow'backfill to filter
through and weaken the sidewalk foundation so it was ordered
repaired by Mr. Slabaugh, the Project Engineer. The sand was
going into their utility room. He said the reason we are coming
up with these charges at this late date, as noted on the attached
sheet to the change order, the overruns and underruns are shown and
we overran on some and underran on some, and that unluckily the
amount was $228.76 on the plus side instead of the minus side.
Motion was made by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Donaldson and
unanimously carried, to approve Change Order No. 1 to Phase II -E
Contract, with Harry H. Verkler Contractor, Inc., for an increase
in contract amount of $228.76, subject to HUD concurrence and
Legal Counsel approval, Project Indiana R -66.
C.
