8.. PROGRESS REPORTS (Cont'd)
d. Staff Reports (Cont'd)
City -Wide: No funds were appropriated for City -Wide Relo-
cation. One claim remains to be paid - -a second year
Rental Assistance Payment.
9. QUESTIONS FROM PUBLIC:
e Chair inquired if there were any questions from the public:
s. Jeanne Derbeck, South Bend Tribune Reporter, asked the question
n the Relocation Report, which relates to the Model Cities Extended
ervices, "Staff has received no cooperation from the resident in
ur efforts to establish his eligibility for relocation payments"
nd asked what we do with a hold out like that? Mr. Keith P.
righton, Director, Bureau of Housing, answered the question, that
he homeowner has not decided what he wants to do -- whether he
ants to repair his home, or whether he wants to move. Originally,
he homeowner applied for assistance under the E -6 Program and the
ost is well over our limits, and the question is whether or not he
an afford to make some repairs.
he Chair called on Mr. Allan C. Bloomquist, First Bank & Trust
ompany, if he had anything he wanted to say or be recognized this
orning?
r. Bloomquist said he had nothing supernew to report. The general
tatus is similar to what he reported a month ago that essentially
rom the dismal times to last summer when the retailers said the
conomy is so rotten they are not considering doing anything. Now,
heir sales have improved considerably. It is kind of a major
ompetitive factor at this point in time. The competition is from
he University Park (shopping mall planned for construction at
rape and Indiana 23) vs. the Downtown. Our present feeling is
hat within three or four months we should know reasonabley well as
D whether we are very alive or very dead. Our best guess now is
hree or four months, and it will depend on the major retailer.
10. NEXT COMMISSION MEETING
QUESTION
SESSION
DOWNTOWN
DEVELOP-
MENT,
FIRST
BANK &
TRUST CO.,
R -66
As reported earlier in this meeting, (Re: Old Business, 5a), the NEXT
next meeting of the Redevelopment Commission will be at 10:00 a.m., COMMISSION
Wednesday, December 17, 1975, in the Office of the Department of MEETING:
Redevelopment.
