8. PROGRESS REPORTS (Cont'd <br />The Santa's Arrival Parade was a huge success. The turnout <br />was beyond our expectations. Children and parents lined up <br />for Santa Claus in front of the Igloo long before the end of <br />the parade. The Christmas decorations were put in place to <br />coincide with the parade. <br />UPCOMING: <br />There will be choral groups from the South Bend Community <br />School Corporation, the Cardinal Handbell Group made up of <br />handicapped persons and hopefully other groups will be carol- <br />ing on the Plaza periodically through the entire month of <br />December. <br />This Office has worked closely with the PTC and the Downtown <br />Council in arranging the "Free Holiday Bus Service" on all <br />inbound routes between the hours of 9:30 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. <br />up until Christmas. <br />The Police Department is enforcing by chalking tires in the <br />free two -hour parking zones. <br />Our staff is helping take a count and survey of people parking <br />in the free two hour zones to determine its affect. <br />The City Council has approved funding Ethnic Festival and Fire- <br />works for 1976. <br />There is now a Consulting Team for prospective downtown businesses <br />and for troubled existing ones as well.
