6. NEW BUSINESS (Cont'd N f. Rehabilitation Contracts, Southeast Community.Development Program: Per recommendations of the Southeast. Advisory Committee, Commis- sion approval was requested to award the following rehabilitation contracts, per bid tabulations, subject to Legal Counsel approval, in Southeast Community Development Program: Contract Nos. Addresses Amount Contractor 2 310 E. Dayton $ 3,414.00 Bailey Electric 4 608 E. Haney 2,405.00 Bailey Electric 5 614 E. Indiana 3,520.00 Bailey Electric 7 315 E. Indiana 4,562.00 Bailey Electric 8 310 E. Sample 3,187.00 Bailey Electric Mr. Keith P. Crighton, Director, Bureau of Housing, advised Bailey Electric is a.new contractor interested in doing work for us, and was the low bidder on these contracts. These are the first contracts under the Community Development Housing Assistance Program, with a total budget of: $535,000.00. Mr. Crighton said they are constantly trying to draw new contractors into our rehabilitation program. Commissioner Wiggins'question on the upgrading of the wiring in these houses, Mr. Crighton advised that approximately 80% of the houses require electrical work. Motion was made by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Cira and carried, to award the above rehabilitation contracts to Bailey Electric Company, in bid amounts as noted, and the President and Secretary authorized to enter into said contracts,'subject to Legal Counsel approval. Keasey 6,930.00 Slatile Roofing Mr. Crighton advised these contracts will be presented to the Common Council for their approval Monday night, as the above are all in excess of $5,000.00. Motion was made by Mr. Chenney, seconded by Mr. Wiggins and carried, to award the above rehabilitation contracts to the contractors, in the bid amounts as noted, subject to Common Council and Legal Counsel approval.
