Project, has been approved, in the amount of'$9,282.00.
Check No. 6,824,073 dated May 5,`1975, has been received, in
the amount of $3,393,294.00, drawn on the Treasurer of the
United States to the depository designated and authorized by
our Agency, for deposit only for Project Temporary Loan,
drawn for: "Repayment. Fund Project IN R -66 Contract Indiana
R- 66(LG)." The check is to be recorded as a receipt in the
Project Temporary Loan Repayment Fund.
Mr. Brownell said what this means is that instead of owing
$10,150,000.00, we will only owe $6,745,000.00, as a result
of getting the Progress Grant Payments above.
President Nimtz further added this has been a result of pro-
longed meetings both by Mayor Miller and Mr. Brownell, and
the staff here, in Indianapolis, Chicago, etc. This is a
tremendous credit that we have received here. Commissioner
Wiggins also added that it will save time and a lot of money
and interest.
In reference to Ms. Derbeck's question if this amount is
what was discussed previously for the Project Notes, and Mr.
Brownell replied the $6,745,000.00 relates to the First Series
1975 Project Notes that we will be canvassing bids on May 20,
1975, discussed udner 4b above, and advertised in The South
Bend Tribune on April 29 and May 6, 1975.
h. International Constructors Company letter dated May 8, 1975:
This letter is over the signature of Mr. James McCutcheon,
President, relating to Block 6 proposed development change,
for Project Indiana R -66. Mr. John C. Fleck, the developers
architect, with Fleck & Hickey, Inc., architects, in LaPorte,
Indiana, brought the letter in this morning and the site plan
for Block 6 revised land use, to present to the Commissioners
and the public in this mornings meeting.
Mr. Brownell read the letter in its entirety. It is summarized
for the minutes.
This is to formally request "Block 6" be offered for bid. If
it is possible to accept the bid subject to later change in land
use designation, we would be happy to bid immediately in order
to accelerate this program. Your serious consideration of this
alternative is requested.
We hereby request a change in land -use designation. A minor
land use change is necessary to permit construction of a motel
and restaurant in addition to the current designation, and to
permit an increase in the number of residential units to a
number in excess of 200 as hereinafter suggested. We under-
stand that your approval of our proposed projects will be re-
quired prior to transfer of title, and must conform to all
zoning requirements then in effect.
