Staff Reports (Cont'd) <br />occupying property to be acquired for Airport <br />Development. <br />5) E -6 Model Neighborhood Code Enforcement Project: <br />Mr. John Davis, Project Director of the E -6 Program, E -6 MODEL <br />in written report, advised the work is roceeding in NEIGHBORHOOD <br />the E -6 Code Enforcement Area. Five (4 contractors CODE ENFORCE - <br />are engaged in physical rehabilitation. A total of MENT PROJECT <br />23 initial inspections were made in February. REPORT <br />Contract No. 14 was opened for bids on February 19, 1975 <br />and tentatively awarded to Newbill's Construction Company <br />by E -6 Approval Committee, pending HUD concurrence. <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS: <br />Mr. John R. Kagel, Executive Director, Downtown South Bend PUBLIC <br />Council, advised that the report that Mr. Louis N. Wilcox COMMENTS <br />gave is proof that we are moving in the right direction. <br />This is excellent! <br />Mr. Edward F. Soltesz, Chairman Governmental Coordination <br />Committee of the River Bend Plaza Advisory Committee, re- <br />ported on the seating arrangements on the sidewalk cafe dis- <br />cussed in Committee meetings many times. This is very good <br />thinking, but the responsibility for the furniture- -and to <br />consider along with it-- should be with the businesses who <br />are supplying service to that area. The businesses should <br />not be negligent and they should be the one's responsible <br />in placing any furniture that is not anchored under their <br />security, to prevent vandalism and theft. The recognition <br />should be brought before the businesses that anything movable <br />should be the responsibility of the merchants and this should <br />be stressed. <br />NEXT COMMISSION MEETING: <br />The next meeting of the Redevelopment Commission will be at NEXT MEETING, <br />10:00 a.m., Friday, March 21, 1975, in the Office of the MARCH 21, 1975 <br />Department of Redevelopment. <br />ADJOURNMENT: <br />Motion for adjournment was duly made by Mr. Wiggins, seconded ADJOURNMENT <br />by Mr. Donaldson and carried, at 10:58 a.m. <br />02 r <br />a e ownell, Executive Di r kFJ:aly� iim Preside t <br />;SEAL) <br />- 16 - <br />
