7. PROGRESS REPORTS (Cont'd .... ._. ..... 2) River Bend Plaza Schedule Report Mr. Louis N. Wilcox, Director of the River Bend Plaza, presented a check, in amount of $5,000 that had been promised as partial payment in December by Mr. Karl King, the former President of the Downtown South Bend Council. The Re- development Commission had entered into an Agreement with the River Bend Plaza Foundation, Inc. (Commission meeting of October 4, 1974), in an amount not to exceed $30,000 (per Exhibit "A "), to be paid in three equal installments each on July 1, 1975, 1976 and 1977. The check was presented on behalf of the River Bend plaza Advisory Committee and the diligence the Downtown South Bend Council played to present this check of partial payment of the first install- ment covering the Christmas decorations. This is part of the first $10,000 obligation. Mr. C. Wayne Brownell, Acting Deputy Director, introduced Mr. Hubert Getzinger, the new President of the Downtown South Bend Council who was in the audience. The activities report for the River Bend Plaza were in the Commissioners packets and news media. Mr. Wilcox stated that the Plaza in the eyes of the public is still the place to be and hopes-it will continue.
