7. PROGRESS REPORTS.(Cont'd)
Staffing:- Mr. Lennon advised he. met with the Re STAFFING
deve opment Commissioners informally last Monday; June 3, .
relative to the staff. All.present Commissioners were pre-
sent in either the May 17th Commission meeting, the June 3rd
informal meeting, or present in this meeting, June 7th. Mr.
Lennon stated the Redevelopment Commissioners concurred and
gave approval to the termination notices of May 29. Per
the memorandum dated May 29, 1974, to the Department of
Redevelopment Staff Members, the first seven termination
notices have been issued.
For he sake of clarification, Mr. Lennon stated these
peop a are not being "fired" as reported in an article
in Tie South Bend Tribune by one of its reporters. The
Trib ne was a Tittle harsher. When one does not have funds,
the mployees are terminated and not fired; perhaps in the
futu e the reporters can use a better term. The article
stat d the employees were being "fired ", instead of report-
ing hey are being terminated for lack of funds. Twenty (20)
peop a are involved; six (6) on July 1. Of the six, five
have found other employment and are doing other things.
Two 2) will be leaving in September and twelve (12) are
sche uled for January 1, 1975.
Some people are doing an excellent job and are not being
"fir d."
t.
