Uncontrollable delays in ob-
construction steel and porcelain toilet fixtures have
ed their completing the remodeling for the Department
is Welfare by March 15, 1974. Their current estimate
ipletion of the project is March 31 to April 10, which
ake it possible for the Welfare Department to move in
April 12, 1974.
nt Helmen raised the question as to how many previous
s for delays have been granted the Department of Public
for their move? Mr. Lennon advised that we have had
revious requests. This is the fourth request. Ori-
the plans were to relocate the Department of Public
by July 1, 1973; then the time was extended from July
tober 1, 1973; in Commission meeting of October 5, 1973,
e was extended from October 1, 1973 to January 1,1974;
ission meeting of January 2, 1974, the time was extended
nuary 1, 1974 to March 16, 1974; and today's request
an extension of this date from March 15 to April 15,
tem was discussed in the previous session, with the
present, and it was determined it would be agreeable
ow the Department of Public Welfare an extension of
.o move until April 15, 1974, based on the following
ions:
1) Receive a statement from the demolition contractor,
Julius O'Neal Trucking Company, that this delay
will not cause an increase in the cost of the
demolition, which is $13,000.
2) The wage determination established by the Depart-
ment of Housing and Urban Development has not
changed, and, therefore, increased the cost of
the project.
3) Get in writing a letter from the Department of
Public Welfare and County Commissioners that if
there are any additional costs involved, subsequent
to April 15 because of the delay, this cost must be
borne by the County Commissioners.
4) Written consent from the Civic Center Authority ap-
proving this extension of time.
:ion by Rev. Williams, seconded by Mr. Wiggins and unani-
carried, the extension of time to April 15,-1974, was
I zed for the Department of Public Welfare to move from
current quarters, with the four (4) stipulations as noted.
- 5 -
