National Community Development Directors Association: NATIONAL COMMUNITY <br />Authoriza ion was requested for the Executive Director to attend DEVELOPMENT DIRECTORS <br />the National Community Development Directors Association meeting ASSOCIATION MEETING, <br />in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 7 and 8, 1974. This NEW ORLEANS, LA. <br />will give some indication of the types of legislation available. <br />On motion by Mr. Wiggins, seconded by Mr. Chenney and unani- <br />mously ca Zthorized ied, the Executive Director, Mr. Charles F. Lennon, <br />Jr., was to attend the above meeting. <br />7. PROGRESS REPORTS <br />.. <br />Mall Status: Mr. Lennon advised our staff will MALL STATUS, R -66 <br />be delivering our January monthly schedule to the <br />retailers today. Basically, the electricians will <br />be doing the electrical switch installations in <br />pits and vaults. The bricks are scheduled for arrival <br />next week and work will be done under all'weather <br />covers. The bricks will be placed around the planters <br />as shown in the renderings. In front of Baer's the <br />coving is being done; bushhammering the cement is <br />also being done at this time. <br />Bus Terminal Status: Two representatives from the BUS TERMINAL STATUS <br />South Bend Public Transportation Corporation were <br />present for discussion: Messrs. Harry E. Bartman <br />and Pete Downs. <br />Mr. Bartman said they received the consultants' re- <br />commendations last Friday and they just reversed the <br />original plans. They had planned to come in from the <br />North and out from the South. Now it is the opposite. <br />He said he believed the work can be done by January 14, <br />twelve (12) days from now. They are planning to put up <br />a three -sided tent - -20' x 30' - -and that a temporary <br />shelter will be forthcoming. Delivery time on temporary <br />shelters was stated to them to be three months to six <br />months. They have been asked to consider the safety <br />factor. The first suggestion was to get see - through <br />Plexiglas. He said they can't let the people stand <br />out in the cold. <br />The buses will come in on Main, off Jefferson, and then <br />North, and go out on North end of the lot on street out <br />to Washington. Mr. Lennon said the Service Drive is 40 <br />feet wide and they will be able to function both ways, <br />and the parking lot on the corner can be worked out. <br />- 7 - <br />
