7. PROGRESS REPORTS (Cont'd <br />B. Mall <br />1) Sculpture Report: Mr. Lennon announced there is SCULPTURE REPORT <br />a Sculpture- meeting at 1:30 p.m., today, if any- <br />one is interested. We have had requests for 32 . <br />sets of sculpture rules. We have had 18 entries <br />from South Bend. <br />2) Time Table: Mr. Lennon reported on the time TIME TABLE <br />table and advised the construction is generally <br />on schedule. <br />In answer to President Helmen's question whether <br />we are checking on the compacting,. Mr.. Slabaugh <br />advised that we are. The reports are coming in <br />almost daily from Shilts, Graves & Associates, <br />Inc. <br />In answer to Mrs. Allen's question on the <br />terrazzo, Mr. Lennon advised the type terrazzo <br />to be installed will support the weight of <br />fire trucks, as there is a fire lane down the <br />area. <br />3) Events: <br />Nov. 8, 9 & 10: Hard Hats will be given to HARD HAT DAYS <br />customers by the downtown merchants for <br />Sidewalk Superintendent Days. <br />Nov. 16: Bicentennial Award Luncheon at the BICENTENNIAL AWARD <br />Indiana Club. South Bend is.one of twenty- LUNCHEON <br />two award cities in the County and the only <br />city in Indiana so recognized. <br />Nov. 17: Downtown Council Parade. Activities DOWNTOWN COUNCIL <br />start at 9:00 a.m. PARADE <br />Nov. 18: "Paint the Barricade" Day, Sunday, <br />from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. <br />4) Fire Hydrants: Mr. B. L. Wade, Redevelopment FIRE HYDRANTS <br />Commissioner, said he has heard favorable <br />comments at our football games from people <br />from various sections of the country, in- <br />cluding California, complimenting South Bend's <br />fire hydrants. <br />Mr. Lennon advised that approximately 1,100 <br />have been painted and the remaining 3,600 <br />will be painted prior to July 4, 1976. <br />- 12 - <br />
