8. PROGRESS REPORTS (Cont'd)
Park F roject, to finalize the 45 complaints filed with us
on thE LaSalle Park Project. The results have been developed
on a (ase-by-case basis with Mr. Ivory present. We will contact
each contractor who has the responsibility to make the necessary
repairs and give them a period of time to make the decision as
to whether they will do the repairs or whether we take legal
actin . We must give the responsible contractors a reasonable
amount of time to respond. We hope to have these all completed
by November 15th - -that is our time schedule.
In answer to Mr. Marchelewicz's question, Mr. Lennon said some-
thing needs to be done on all 45 complaints -- whether it is the
responsibility of the contractor or the home owner. This has
been established and the contractors are noted on the report.
These reports are available in our office to anyone who may
want o go over these in detail. This does not cover ordinary
wear and tear.
Mrs. Janet S. Allen questioned if this type of problem in the
rehabilitation areas could occur again? The response by Messrs.
Lennon and Helmen was that the schedule now developed with Mr.
William C. Ellison in charge and responsible for follow -up will
prevent a recurrence of this sort.
b. Sculpture for Mall: Mrs. Allen also questioned the
art work and sculpture concepts of the Mall.
Mr. Lennon reiterated that it was the wish of the Commission
and himself that local artists be involved, and that when the
recomm ndations and time schedule from Mr. Phil Simonds, our
Consul ing Engineer, arrives, it will be shared with Mrs.
Greenh t, who is serving as the coordinator for the local
artist .
SCULPTURE FOR MALL,
R -66
c. There were many excellent speakers in semi-
nar class discussions which proved to be informative and reward-
ing, The most important thought was that an international under-
standing of civil rights for all people regardless of race, color,
creed, sex or national origin must be realized to have a better
society and closer knit world.
d.
