Mr. Lark does have the legal background for <br />compiling the necessary reports in regard to the complaints <br />of the meeting on May 16." <br />Messrs. George Pope and Ontrue Hesiben voiced their concerns <br />Over the work done in the past on their homes. Both acknow- <br />le ged selecting their own contractors. Mr. Alford said he <br />pe sonally spent 150 hours on Mr. Pope's case since it was <br />brought to his attention. <br />After quite lengthy discussions, Rev. Williams said he didn't <br />seE why we should do anything but to follow the contracts and <br />follow the legal procedure. Let's abide by the contract and <br />do it by legal procedure. Take each contract and go legally. <br />The contractors are bound by the contract. <br />President Helmen said this Commission is mindful that some- <br />thing is wrong out there, evidenced by what Mr. Outlaw and <br />Mr. Pope said. We have a staff there and they are supposed <br />to do the job, and if they don't do the job, we are supposed <br />to know about it. We are assured by Mr. Lennon the job will <br />be one. If you say we are giving you the runaround, you are <br />wro a. <br />Mr. Lennon advised the Commission has the responsibility <br />over the contractor, and if they are in default of contract, <br />we will not award any more contracts to that contractor. <br />We Will file necessary lawsuits if that is the case. <br />In summation, Mr. Butler said with respect to these matters, <br />we have been working on them continually over a period of <br />time and we might not need additional investigation. We <br />can continue to move ahead on these. Mr. Butler said he <br />wou d like to review the contracts -- especially the two <br />her 6. <br />Mr.�Wiggins asked Messrs. Pope and Hesiben to stay and talk <br />to ur attorney here, Mr. Butler, which they agreed to do. <br />9.
