4. NEW BUSINESS (Cont'd <br />Pres. Helmen: We have taken care of the handicapped on the curbs. <br />Mrs. Allen: I wonder if there is a possibility to eliminate <br />some of those too. <br />Pres. Helmen: We will study and consider. <br />Mrs. Allen: What was the engineer's estimate? <br />Mr. Lennon: The total Mall, orreduction of four blocks? <br />Mrs. Allen: The Mall -- ? <br />Mr. Lennon: Yes. This has been public information just as in- <br />formation was in the two,blocks on Michigan Street <br />and two on Washington Street. We have eliminated <br />it at this time until Associates comes in to see <br />what they will do. <br />Mrs. Allen: Four blocks not included? <br />Mr. Lennon: That is correct. The engineering estimate was ap- <br />proximately $230,000 for basic things. When you <br />add the many alternate things, total $3.5 Million <br />Dollars estimated over a year ago. <br />Mrs. Allen: What is the total Mall without the elimination? <br />Mr. Lennon: Would be up to the Commission. Your question -- <br />under our and the Engineers' estimate. <br />Mrs Allen: Engineers' estimate over the remaining properties- - <br />to be remaining - -would be difficult to see <br />Mr. Lennon: Would be difficult to come in with 3 -1/2 Million,. <br />including Associates. <br />There is interest accruing with $3.8 -- gaining approxi- <br />mately $800,000- -that is pertinent. If you add in- <br />terest to the total cost of the bond. -- every day <br />incurring interest -- can be used to pay for the additional . <br />cost on the four blocks. <br />Mrs Allen: You started out with entire Mall with 3 -1/2 Million. <br />You added another million and made it 3 -1/2 Million for <br />the entire Mall. You eliminate four blocks - -I don't <br />care how much money you allocate for interest!! <br />Mr. Wiggins: We have taken action to move forward and have dealt in <br />as realistic a fashion as we could. I take it you are <br />opposed to the Mall, and you have every right to your <br />opinion. <br />Mrs Allen: I am not opposed to the Mall!! We are duplicating <br />-5- <br />
