Washington St. (Beacon); <br />112 W. Washington St. (Water Beds); 9 -5, 114 W. <br />ngton (Van Horne); 9 -6, 116 W. Washington (Wash - <br />in Shoe Repair); and also part of Contract 31 was <br />lemolition of Shidler's building and the buildings <br />e north: 4 -11, 116 N. Michigan St. (Philadelphia); <br />114 N. Michigan St. (Doers); 4 -13, 112 N. Michigan <br />Her); 4 -14A, 107 -115 E. Washington (Doyle's); and <br />120 S. Main Street. Specifically, the Department <br />!development has encountered the following problems <br />Miller Construction Company: <br />1) Problems concerning the minority employment <br />requirements of the Contract. <br />2) Difficulty getting Miller Construction Company <br />to appear for the pre -bid construction confer- <br />ence. <br />3) Difficulty getting Miller Construction Company <br />to commence the contract work. <br />4) Job stopped on April 11, 1973, because of im- <br />proper and negligent demolition procedures. <br />5) Damage to structures adjacent to buildings in- <br />cluded in the contract but not themselves so <br />included, and resulting in legal action against <br />the Department. <br />6) Complaints from property owners, pedestrians, <br />and the public because of lack of structural <br />barricades and improper demolition procedures. <br />7) Payrolls have not complied with contract re- <br />quirements and procedures. <br />liggins said we are also being sued as a result of <br />!r Construction Company's demolition under Contract <br />;1 . <br />On motion by Rev. Williams, seconded by Mr. Chenney and <br />unanimously carried, award of Demolition and Site Improve- <br />ment Contract No. 32, to Miller Construction Company, is <br />to be cancelled, and staff be authorized to publish the <br />Notiipe for Rebidding on Demolition and Site Improvement <br />Contact No. 32. <br />
