Specifically, the Department !development has encountered the following problems Miller Construction Company: 1) Problems concerning the minority employment requirements of the Contract. 2) Difficulty getting Miller Construction Company to appear for the pre -bid construction confer- ence. 3) Difficulty getting Miller Construction Company to commence the contract work. 4) Job stopped on April 11, 1973, because of im- proper and negligent demolition procedures. 5) Damage to structures adjacent to buildings in- cluded in the contract but not themselves so included, and resulting in legal action against the Department. 6) Complaints from property owners, pedestrians, and the public because of lack of structural barricades and improper demolition procedures. 7) Payrolls have not complied with contract re- quirements and procedures. liggins said we are also being sued as a result of !r Construction Company's demolition under Contract ;1 . Williams, seconded by Mr. Chenney and unanimously carried, award of Demolition and Site Improve- ment Contract No. 32, to Miller Construction Company, is to be cancelled, and staff be authorized to publish the Notiipe for Rebidding on Demolition and Site Improvement Contact No. 32.
