7. <br />Of <br />on <br />Mil <br />PROGRESS REPORTS <br />a. NAHRO Conference: Mr. Frank J. Alford, E.E.O. <br />icer, City of South Bend, submitted a written report <br />the NAHRO Conference he attended in Minneapolis, <br />nesota, on April 26 and 27, 1973. <br />This meeting covered "An Assessment of Equal Opportunity- - <br />Lo ally and Nationally." The Minority Affairs Committee, <br />North Central Region of NAHRO, has members from all over <br />.the North Central Region, for which Mr. Alford has been <br />requested to participate for input on affirmative action. <br />Discussions were on future strategy and ways that local <br />of ort of Equal Opportunity in Housing could be expanded <br />to a national level. <br />Mr. Alford said it is his hope that through the Committee, <br />whi h is widely versed in the matter of Equal Opportunity <br />in �ousing that he will be able to help our local situation. <br />NAHRO CONFERENCE <br />REPORT <br />b. Business Relocation, R -66: Mr. John A. Kotzen- BUSINESS RELOCATION, <br />mac er, Business Relocation Director, submitted his R -66 <br />written report for April, in which he advised there were <br />no usiness relocation claims paid in the month of April. <br />c. Building <br />completion on East side of Michigan Street is sche- <br />duled for August, 1973. <br />Excavation on West Hibberd Court, between Office Engineers <br />West and Maling Shoes to begin in approximately four (4) <br />weeks. The one -story addition to Office Engineers is ex- <br />pected to be completed by mid September. <br />Structural steel framework is being set for J.M.S. Annex <br />Building under construction at 123 W. Washington Street. <br />Precast masonry units are being fabricated in Wisconsin <br />for job site delivery next month. <br />Interior work, in -store equipment, and illuminated signage <br />completed at "La Cravatte" Haberdashery, 104 West Wayne <br />Street.
