SOUTH END REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
SPECIA MEETING
Page 4
Si a and six (6) in the Model Cities Area. We have thirty -seven (37)
buildings in the Southeast Side and thirty -one (31) buildings in the
Mo el Cities Area, and there are thirty- five(35) vacant lots in the
So theast Area and five (5) in the Model Cities Area.
We have completed, to the best of our ability as far as staff goes, the
in pection of the homes, the appraisers have gone in and are still con -
ti uing their work, and our relocation office has been working with the
families involved. Members of our staff are present to discuss any
pa ticular concern that might come up.
Th breakdown by the legal description has been published and is in
fr nt of the Commission. The grant is a One Million Dollar Grant, of
which the first year is divided into approximately $1,800,000.00 with the
in kind cash grant coming from Merry Avenue Project, the Water Sewer Grant,
So theast Park, Linden School and Linden Park, so the local money will come
di ectly from those particular areas.
Introduction of Mr. Ed Luczkowski, Chairman of PAC Committee in Model Cities:
In
Mrl Luczkowski:
"Gentlemen:
"After three years of eager anticipation, after three years of
anxiously awaiting final and definite word of what's going to
happen to our little area, we are most gratified that the HUD
grant has finally comethrough and we know where we stand. We
are in complete agreement with all the plans laid out to replace
our homes. We are in complete agreement to relocate, to have our
private homes demolished and make room for civic improvements and
we would like to go on record at this time as being 100% in favor
of this entire program for our neighborhood clearance.
"Thank you."
tion of Mr. Conrad Damian, Vice President of the Southeast Side PAC
Mrl Damian:
"Well, basically, I'll say the same things as the other gentleman.
We have been working for three years on the Southeast Side to
bring some funding into our neighborhood and I know that you all
have been through quite a bit of discussion about our Southeast
Side Project, and we are very happy at this time with the plan.
We are happy that the administration has come through with this
plan with us and we feel that it is the best proposal for our
neighborhood. The residents of that first action year are behind
this plan and are looking forward to it coming into our neighbor-
hood.
