Contract for Phase III, Pedestrian Way, R -66 TENTATIVE APPROVAL <br />Pro' ct: Commission authorization was requested to ad FOR PHASE III ADVER- <br />vertise this contract, subject to written approval by the TISING, R -66 <br />City Engineer, with tentative schedule for advertising <br />February 23 and March 2, and tentative bid opening on <br />Marc 28, 1973; Commission Award on April 6, 1973; and <br />HUD �pproval approximately April 16, 1973. <br />The Engineer's estimate is $3,500,000.00. Mr. Lennon <br />said we have not received the finalized engineering ' <br />design. We should receive this today or Monday, which <br />will be forwarded to the City Engineer's Office, and if <br />agreed to by Mr. Richardson, we can begin to advertise <br />on February 23. We have received the plans - -the specific <br />engineering designs; however, the specifications on all <br />items on the Mall have not yet been received by the Engineer- <br />ing Department and ourselves. <br />Mr. Wiggins made the motion for tentative approval, subject <br />to the City Engineer's review and approval, and perhaps <br />subject to a subsequent review by this Commission at our <br />February meeting. <br />The Chair said: "This is big money. The Commission should <br />have the opportunity to go over the figures to see that they <br />are in line. This is the total Mall package. We want to <br />safeguard Commission's functions on establishing policy and <br />it is hard to judge things when we do not have a chance to <br />judge. We would be very remiss to authorize you to adver- <br />tise efore looking at the final plans. If it takes a <br />speci 1 meeting, let's have it." <br />Motiol was seconded by Rev.
