2. WEARING -IN OF COMMISSIONERS BY CITY CLERK, MRS. IRENE K. GAMMON <br />he Commissioners were all sworn into office by South Bend City Clerk, <br />Mrs. Irene K. Gammon, with the documentation executed and attested to by <br />the City Clerk. <br />3. <br />ICERS <br />r. Kevin J. Butler, Commission Legal Counsel, consented to the appoint- <br />ment of temporary chairman for the election of officers. The nominations <br />were open: <br />to t <br />carr <br />4. <br />lotion was made by Mr. Wiggins that the current officers be re- elected <br />ieir respective offices, seconded by Mr. Chenney and unanimously <br />led. The respective offices are: <br />President: <br />Vice President: <br />Secretary: <br />Assistant Secretary: <br />Member: <br />Mr.�Fred J. Helmen <br />Mr. John E. Chenney <br />Rev. Willie V. Williams <br />Mr. B. L. Wade <br />Mr. Donald A. Wiggins <br />APPOINTMENT OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND LEGA <br />Appointment of Executive Director: <br />COUNSEL <br />The next order of business is the appointment of Executive <br />Dire tor, replacing Mr. Lloyd S. Taylor,'resignation effective January <br />1, 1 73. The Chair said applications for this position have been re- <br />view ad and the Commission has met with some of the applicants. The pre- <br />sent tions and the applicants' qualifications have been studied. The <br />nomi ations were open: <br />Motion was made by Mr. Wiggins for the nomination that Mr. Charles <br />F. Lannon, Jr. be named to the post of Executive Director, to replace <br />Mr. loyd S. Taylor, who has resigned for another position. Said motion <br />seco ded by Mr. Wade. Aye votes from: Messrs. Chenney, Helmen, Wiggins <br />and 4ade. Opposition from: Rev. Williams. Motion carried by majority <br />vote <br />Question from the news media as to how many applicants applied <br />for he position, the Chair said there were two, besides Mr. Lennon- -one <br />locaf and one out of town. <br />At this point a call was requested to be placed to Mr. Lennon to <br />appear before the Commission for his appointment to the office of Executive <br />Director, Department of Redevelopment. Mr. Lennon appeared before the <br />Board, receiving congratulations for his appointment from the Commission <br />and iiews media. <br />- 2 - <br />
