6. <br />On <br />Pr <br />ti <br />NEW BUSINESS (Cont'd) <br />lotion by Mr. Chenney, seconded by Mr. Wiggins, the <br />ident and Secretary were authorized to execute Demoli- <br />Contract No. 26. Motion unanimously carried. <br />7. IPROGRESS REPORT <br />a. Property Management: Rev. Billy W. Kirk submitted <br />a written report on Property Management. The rent roll for <br />the month of May is $7,142.00 -- decrease of $175.00 from <br />previous month. Two buildings were vacated: Slick's <br />Laundry, Parcel No. 15 -5, and St. Joseph Bank Storage, <br />Par el No. 13 -3. These buildings are vacated and all <br />ser ices discontinued. <br />8. IE -3 SITE OFFICE FIRE <br />Mr. Taylor expressed his appreciation to the South Bend <br />Fire Department personnel and wanted to publicly commend <br />them for the terrific job they did in saving records at <br />our site office, which was located at 515 N. Hill Street, <br />E -3 Project. Although the fire had engulfed the roof of <br />the enj,oining Redevelopment Site Office, the firemen <br />ent red the building and placed protective tarpaulins <br />ove the desks and file cabinets in the lower office <br />are -- protecting the records from fire damage. <br />Bec use of the outstanding action of the Fire Department <br />per onnel, the loss to our records is less than 1/2 of <br />1 %. The second floor inspection records will have to be <br />red ne . <br />Mr. Taylor advised he submitted a letter to The South <br />Bend Tribune, "Voice of the People" publicly thanking <br />the Fire Department personnel for the excellent work <br />in saving property at the recent Flamingo Restaurant <br />fire which destroyed our site office. <br />The E -3 Site Office has been relocated to the R -66 <br />are , at 410 L.W.E., close to our Relocation Office. <br />Mr. Taylor also commended the E -3 staff in moving <br />the records from the burned building the same after- <br />noor and being back in operation in approximately two <br />days. The new Rehabilitation Office, now located in <br />the R -66 Project, is not on the demolition list and <br />will be evaluated as to whether to remain there or <br />havE an office in the E -3 area. <br />Mr. Taylor also commended the telephone company for <br />a t rrific job in supplying fast service to the new <br />office location. <br />- 10 - <br />PROPERTY MANAGEMENT <br />SOUTH BEND FIRE <br />DEPT.
