Roemer, Attorney at Law: <br />Mr. Barbe- stated that he had examined the contract which was <br />presented to the Commission and it was in compliance with HUD <br />guidelines. He also stated that it was essentially the same <br />contract which the Department had with Mr. Hammerschmidt. Mr. <br />Chenney moved the contract be accepted for signature and Rev.. <br />Williams seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />o. Rental Request - Parcel 9 -32, IND R -66: Mr. Miller <br />requested permission of the Commission to rent-the old Neumode <br />Building on Michigan Street to Nancy Stokes d /b /a Cooperation <br />Book Store (Parcel 9 -32) for $100.00 per month. Cooperation <br />Book Store, Power Drugs and Community News Stand are being <br />relocated to clear Disposition Parcel 4 -70, R -66.- We are not <br />obligated to relocate this client as they were not renters-at <br />the time the purchase was being negotiated. <br />Rev. Williams moved that permission be granted on the basis of <br />a $100.00 permonth rental, seconded by Mr. Chenney. Motion <br />carrie unanimously. <br />p. Repor_t �by Frank Alford on his trip to Chicago to attend REPORT BY FRANK <br />the National sA sociation of Minority Contractors Conference: ALFORD ON CONFERENC <br />Mr. Alford stated that a number of distinguished persons addressed OF NATIONAL ASSN. <br />the Conference and all-agreed on the concept of getting the MINORITY CONTRACTOR <br />minorities into the economic mainstream. He also said that he <br />was was provided with two books entitled (1) Aid to Minorities in <br />Federal Programs and (2) Aid to Minorities in the Private Sector, <br />which would be most useful in adding to his knowledge of how to <br />deal with the problems of Minority Contractors. He also felt the <br />Conference in Chicago was most enlightening regarding the issues <br />that face minorites in their search for equal employment oppor- <br />tuniti s. He submitted a written report in detail._ . <br />b. Mr. Taylor reported on the meeting in Indianapolis with MR. TAYLOR'S REPORT <br />HUD officials on April 19, 1972. Mayor Miller and he attempted ON MEETING WITH HUD <br />to resolve some of the delays that we have been encountering. It April 19, 1972 <br />is too early to tell if this meeting was successful <br />
