8. PROGRESS REPORTS (Cont'd <br />E -3 Project: <br />19 initial inspections; 19 loans in process; 17 grants 2) E -3 <br />in p ocess; and 2 owner - rehabilitations. <br />The Diagnostic Survey staff has completed 27 blocks, leaving <br />15 blocks to complete. Weather permitting, the entire <br />survey should be completed by the middle of December, 1971. <br />Within this project area, survey staff has discovered many <br />families in need of social services, and staff has aided these <br />families in receiving needed assistance in welfare, food <br />stamps, legal aide, disability and social security pensions. <br />Survey has also been helpful in discovering families in dire <br />need of rehabilitation work, and families needing furnaces, <br />insulation, etc., are receiving assistance. <br />A Neighborhood Workshop was held October 21 and 22, at the <br />Nort east Center, dealing with social, educational and <br />econ mic problems of the neighborhood. <br />Our Project Coordinator held a meeting in her home for some <br />concerned Senior Citizens. She attended the Lafayette Ac- <br />tion for Progress Conference and Workshop at the Northeast <br />Neighborhood Center. <br />9.
